A Baltimore policeman was sentenced Wednesday in federal court to 42 months in prison for his part in a towing scandal involving at least 50 other city officers and ordered to pay restitution of $20,000 to the Baltimore Police Department.

The scheme involved kickbacks paid by East Baltimore’s Majestic Body Shop to city cops for illegally sending accident victims to the Philadelphia Road facility instead of repair shops authorized and under contract with the city to tow the damaged vehicles.
