DATELINE: CHERRYVILLE
6/20/2012
The Gaston County town of Cherryville is looking for a city manager, after David Hodgkins and the town council came to a “separation agreement” during a meeting late last week.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Hodgkins had been city manager for nine years and had a salary of $92,389.
Cherryville’s administration has undergone several changes in the past six months. The town’s clerk and finance director left their jobs in December, after an internal audit showed a misuse of city credit cards, Cherryville officials said at the time. The money eventually was repaid by a town employee, according to the Gaston Gazette.
Cherryville officials say the town’s fire chief, Jeff Cash, is serving as interim city manager while a search for Hodgkins’ replacement takes place.
