A former assistant Maricopa County manager fired in December in a gifts scandal involving several employees in his department has filed a notice of claim against the county.
Kenny Harris is claiming wrongful termination, defamation, invasion of privacy, violations of civil and constitutional rights and damages.
His attorney is demanding a $5 million settlement, pending litigation.
The Arizona Republic says an internal investigation into 19 employees found 11 of them improperly accepted gifts and entertainment from companies contracted with the county.
Of the 11, five resigned, two were fired, three were suspended and one was allowed to return to work. Harris was named in the report, but not disciplined.
County officials declined comment Thursday on Harris’ notice of claim, citing pending litigation.
