GALION — A city employee who had been on paid administrative since a June 15 incident will retire, a city official said today.
Jeffrey Price, Galion’s electric department superintendent, had been on leave as internal and criminal investigations continue. He sought and was granted the chance today to retire.
Price was put on leave along with employee Richard Benner after an incident between the two men at the Wastewater Treatment Plant that is still being investigated by Galion Police Department.
“We met with Jeff today and discussed the hearing officer’s report and options,” City Manager Gene Toy said.
Benner returned to work June 20.
Price has worked for the city since 1976 and has been line department superintendent since 1999, Toy said. His last day of work is officially today.
